Give them a brief outline of your needs/numbers and see what they say. Q: Wedding Buffet or Catered for a crowd of 600 at least? A: I had buffet at my wedding and it turned out great! I had about 200 guests though. I don't think buffets have to be tacky. I had my reception AT a catering place but they set the food up buffet style. I personally don't like upscale weddings, where you are served a 5 course meal, etc. They usually aren't any fun/pleasurable but that's totally up to you.
